  • Cultural Exchange 2006 - 2008
    Young people from different ethnic backgrounds, aged 9 to 14, meet with the Woodcraft Folk group of Ulverston for fun activities and to learn about each others cultures and customs 
  • Kick Racism Out 2006 - 2008
    In September 2006 a week long activity in Furness Schools followed by a one day event took place at Barrow Football Ground
    In October and November 2007, in line with the national 'Kick Racism Out of Football' campaign, events were held at Orsmgill and Barrow AFC ground to show racism the red card, prizes were given to school pupils for their involvement in the campaign.
    This year, 'Unity in the Community' is organised in partnership with the Ormsgill Residents & Tenants Association and will be held in Ormsgill, Barrow-in-Furness on 13 April 2008. There will be football and rugby coaching, music, mc's, skatepark, wall-climbing, food tasting and dance from around the world and more.
  • Cooking demonstrations at Furness College during their 'Equality and Diversity week', February 2008
    FMCF members from the Philippines, Kosovo, Thailand and Rumania worked with the catering students and prepared traditional dishes from their countries during half-day workshops held at the college throughout the week, these cookery demonstrations were followed by tasting sessions for other Furness College students and staff. 
    Karen Turner from Furness College '...tasting sessions were very popular and many complementary things were said about the food'.
  • Week With A Difference 2007
    A week during January invoving workshops in schools, a day long celebration of cultures and a finale concert where members of ethnic monirity communities living in the area performed along with local artists at Forum 28 in Barrow-in-Furness
  • Hate Crime Training
    In partnership with Cumbria Constabulary training is provided to local groups, agencies and organisations
  • Pinoy Fiesta 2006
    An event where everyone had the opportunity to meet the local Filipino community and enjoy their performances. The Labour Attache from the Philippinepines Embassy in london attended and was fascinated to learn how the Forum was gosting such an event for their community
  • Day With A Difference 2005
    In October Forum hosted a celebration day which included a wonderful display of cultural dance, music, food and dress from all over the world, with performances by many traditional acts
  • Haverigg Prison, Millom
    Forum's development worker attends REHAB meetings at Haverrigg prison, where issues in relation to race and equality within that establishment are discussed. Support is offered to staff and prisoners alike, including racist incidents and investigations.
  • Furness General Hospital
    Regular inductions are held at Furness General Hospital for new BME staff, providing information about the Forum and its activities. There are over 100 members of the BME working in the hospital, many of them have their families living in the area.
