Goals & Actions

Our goals and subsequent actions have been segregated into three categories:

  • Organizational Level
  • Community Level
  • Statutory Level

Develop and enhance the Forum’s profile & operations to a level that is compatible to our mission. 

  • Develop and launch a profile building campaign through utilising the print & electronic media i.e. print, publish and circulate promotional material like newsletters, periodicals, pamphlets & videos etc. to share the forum’s vision at all levels of the community. Furthermore, to utilise local and national broadcast platform to apprise the community about forum’s activities, performance and future plans 
  • Develop networking at organisational as well as at personal level to increase membership
  • Develop and launch programmes to create awareness regarding diversity, multiculturalism and growing need to live and work together in modern times.
  • Develop and launch an official web-site of the forum
  • Develop an organisational structure based on the functions that are in line with implementation of the strategic plan
  • Induction of suitable staff/professionals in order to develop a team that would insure smooth operation
  • Training and development of the team members in order to enhance their capabilities and skill levels
  • Develop quality processes and work procedures in line with International Quality Standards (ISO)
  • Organise and enhance the level/scope of services already being delivered e.g. advocacy, counselling, asylum/immigration, general & social advice, appeal- hearing & casework, interpretation & translation, IT & English language classes, drop-in centre etc.
  • Encourage benchmarking for service delivery using acclaimed National & International models
  • Develop and launch ‘Fundraising’ activities at organisational as well as personal levels

Devise an effective mechanism through which the forum can: 

  • Provide the statutory and other agencies with information (based on research) in regards to changing needs/priorities of the diverse ethnic population, to be used as the basis in developing suitable programmes and services
  • Involve, advise and assist the statutory and other agencies in formulating policies so that the ethnic population have equitable access to the community resources and services
  • Play an active and meaningful role in improving collaboration between the statutory agencies and the ethnic community towards building mutual trust
  • Develop an efficient and effective channel to engage the statutory to ensure appropriate reception to consider forum’s views
  • Develop consistent means to recommend needs of emerging communities to the appropriate authorities
  • Participate actively in existing governmental programmes in this regard and keep them informed of the impact of the current policies
  • Seek governmental assistance in acquiring grants and funding
  • Assist statutory and other related agencies in undertaking research projects and develop mechanism to relay the findings
  • Put forward ideas and assist statutory authorities to encourage ethnic minority neighbourhoods to promote employment resulting from increased business opportunity and economic activity in the region
  • Develop and promote appropriate multiethnic cultural-events in collaboration with various agencies and try to ensure governmental participation in such events to augment trust between the two
  • Bring together in conferences, seminars, dialogues etc. the members of the community and statutory officials for better communication on issues of common interest

Plan, organise and launch programmes to:

  • Educate the community about the value of diversity and the necessity to support a multi-cultural environment
  • Promote collaboration between diverse groups with in the community and various local and national organisations to resolve issues Encourage peoples from diverse cultures to participate in educational and social activities conducive to meaningful citizenship
  • Collaborate with like minded organisations / groups at national and international level for development of effective educational & promotional material
  • Construct and maintain means of regular communication with multi-cultural communities to identify areas of concern
  • Promote and assist in organising regular cultural activities among various ethnic communities
  • Work closely with the communities to identify and access various services and resources available to meet their needs
  • To identify resistance to change towards transformation to a harmonious multi-cultural society and develop mutual initiatives to counter any socio-economic discrepancies
  • Facilitate community participation in need-based policy development and service design
